Australian relaxation-drink brand Koala Karma will be soon be available at 16 Woolworths Metro stores across Queensland, NSW and Victoria.
Metro stores are generally located near public-transport connections and offer a tailored range of products including grab-and-go solutions and ready-made meals.
Jaime Turner, who founded Koala Karma with Cheryl Stewart, welcomed the ranging in the Woolworths Metro stores “as this identifies with our target market”.
Koala Karma is promoted as being a unique carbonated relaxation drink with the active herbs of passionflower, chamomile, valerian powder and lemon extract – all known for their calming properties – plus magnesium.
Ms Turner says the beverage is ideal for consumers who are feeling stressed or wanting to unwind at the end of the day.
“The relaxation drink is an emerging category in the global beverage market,” she said. “We plan to lead the market with our brand.”
Woolworths Category Manager Long Life Fuel & Metro Team Andrew Ortland said: “We are passionate about supporting Australian businesses and excited to be able to support a local business in a new category in the beverage market.”
Koala Karma says it is achieving growth, with orders from a premium supermarket in China and a P&C chain in the Middle East.
“We are currently going through the registration process for both of these countries with the local food authorities,” Ms Turner said.
