The Australian Electric Vehicle Association (AEVA) has announced the winner of its inaugural charging station award at its Annual General Meeting in Hobart.
Nominations were received from AEVA members, with finalists in each state/territory announced earlier in October. The overall winner and runner-up were selected from these eight.
The winner of the best charging station in Australia is the RAA station at Snowtown, South Australia. This station offers “a very high level of amenity for travellers”, complete with:
- Shade / shelter over the vehicles
- Good lighting
- Proximity to a roadhouse providing a shop and toilets
- Priority charging bay for people with disabilities
- Pull-through parking for towing EVs
- AC charging as a backup option.
Runner up was awarded to the pair of Ampol Ampcharge sites at Pheasants Nest, NSW.
“AEVA congratulates the RAA and Ampol for demonstrating what’s possible, and what all charge-point operators can strive to offer” said AEVA National President Dr Chris Jones. “This award seeks to show the public and industry what EV drivers appreciate in a high-quality charging station.
“AEVA would also like to particularly recognise the leadership RAA has shown in providing disability access at their charging stations across South Australia.”
