The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia increased 1.3¢ to 115¢ a litre nationally in the week ending May 8, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price increased 1.8¢ to 113.6¢ a litre, with the regional price increasing 0.3¢ to 117.8¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in Tasmania at 119¢ a litre followed by NSW/ACT (118.8¢), the NT (116.7¢), Queensland (116.1¢), WA (112.9¢), Victoria (111.4¢) and SA (110.1¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest fuel for the week at 108.7¢ a litre, followed by Melbourne (110.2¢) Perth (110.6¢), Brisbane (116.1¢), Darwin (113.1¢), Canberra (115.3¢), Hobart (116.8¢) and Sydney (118.3¢).
