7-Eleven and Velocity partnership receives interim authorisation

The ACCC has granted 7-Eleven interim authorisation to continue to participate as a retail earn partner of Velocity’s loyalty program.

This follows the ACCC receiving an application on 31 July for authorisation from 7-Eleven, its franchisees and Velocity Frequent Flyer.

Under a participation agreement, consumers who are members of the Velocity program will be able to earn points in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Velocity program when they make eligible purchases of goods and services from any 7-Eleven store.

Authorisation is sought for five years, with previous authorisation now expired.

The ACCC will now release a draft determination which will take account of any submissions from the applicants and interested parties, indicating the ACCC’s preliminary views on the merits of the application. This is expected to be released in September or October.
