Morrisons, in partnership with Highland Fuels, has announced the opening of a brand-new Morrisons Daily store in Glasgow in the UK, which opened to the public on 30 January. This marks the third Morrisons Daily location to open in collaboration with Highland Fuels, with a strong pipeline of further developments planned for the future.
Located in a well-established site in Balfron which has been operated by Highland Fuels for three years, the new Morrisons Daily store marks a significant investment into the local community. The forecourt itself is due to open in the following weeks.
The site has undergone a complete transformation with a modern forecourt and a newly built retail unit, designed to serve all visitors. “This extensive refit reflects the commitment to blending modern retail conveniences with the look and feel local customers have come to expect,” the retailer said. “Every detail has been designed to harmonise with the surrounding landscape and ensure that the charm of the local area is preserved while providing a fresh and vibrant shopping experience.”
The new Morrisons Daily offers an extensive range of quality products, including fresh groceries, daily essentials and popular local items. Popular Scottish favourites are available so that locals can enjoy the products they know and love, along with well-known brands. These include:
- Pret coffee
- Rollover’s hot food on the go
- Skwishee frozenated drinks
- A bakery supported by Aulds.
Morrisons Head of New Business & Independent Franchise Katharine Challinor said: “We are thrilled to open our third Morrisons Daily in partnership with Highland Fuels. The store looks fantastic and delivers a fresh and vibrant shopping experience, thoughtfully designed to reflect the local area. Together, we share the ambition to make great quality products available to more people, serving the needs of the local communities.”
Highland Fuels Retail Director Allan Murdoch said: “We are delighted to be open and provide the community of Balfron and the surrounding area a new quality of retail convenience together with Morrisons Daily.
“The accompanying forecourt services will open in a few weeks’ time, enabling the community to purchase fuel locally without incurring a long drive to the nearest retailer. In keeping with the rural setting, the new Morrisons Daily will have a farm shop feel and stock quality products from local companies such as Aulds the Bakers and authentic Indian ready meals from Praveen Kumar – as well as a Pret Express coffee offering – and everyday grocery essentials you’d expect to find in a supermarket,” Mr Murdoch said.
“It is so exciting to bring this project to fruition in what is a wonderful community. We have been based in the local community centre for the duration of the redevelopment and have already engaged with many members of the community who are very much looking forward to the store opening. We are also delighted to have established new employment for 13 roles for those within the community that we serve.”
The new store is part of a broader plan to continue expanding Morrisons Daily across the region to bring quality, convenience and choice to more communities. The partnership with Highland Fuels has proven to be a successful collaboration and both companies are excited about future opportunities.
