The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 1.3¢ to 181.8¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 26 January, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 1.7¢ to 181.4¢ a litre, while the regional price rose 0.4¢ to 182.7¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 198.5¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (190.4¢), NSW/ACT (186.8¢), South Australia (181.9¢), Western Australia (180.7¢), Queensland (179.3¢), and Victoria (176.7¢).
Of the major cities, Melbourne offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 176.4¢ a litre, followed by Brisbane (177.9¢), Perth (179.5¢), Adelaide (182.2¢), Darwin (184.4¢), Sydney (187.9¢), Hobart (191¢), and Canberra (196.4¢).
