The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 2.5¢ to 180.5¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 19 January, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 3.8¢ to 179.7¢ a litre, while the regional price rose 0.2¢ to 182.3¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 197.2¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (189.3¢), Queensland (183.2¢), NSW/ACT (180.2¢), Victoria (179.9¢), Western Australia (179.7¢), and South Australia (174.2¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 172.6¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (175.7¢), Perth (178.7¢), Melbourne (180.8¢), Darwin (182.7¢), Brisbane (184.1¢), Hobart (190.7¢), and Canberra (196.4¢).
