The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 3.9¢ to 183¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 12 January, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 5.7¢ to 183.5¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 0.3¢ to 182.1¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 195.5¢ a litre, followed by Queensland (188.3¢), Tasmania (188.2¢), Victoria (184.6¢), NSW/ACT (181.2¢), Western Australia (178.6¢), and South Australia (175.1¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 174.2¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (177.1¢), Perth (177.7¢), Darwin (180.5¢), Melbourne (187.3¢), Hobart (189.7¢), Brisbane (192¢), and Canberra (197.3¢).
