The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 4.7¢ to 180.4¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 8 December, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 6.1¢ to 181.5¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 1.7¢ to 178¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in NSW/ACT at 192.2¢ a litre, followed by the Northern Territory (188.2¢), South Australia (184.2¢), Tasmania (177.1¢), Queensland (176.8¢), Western Australia (172.5¢), and Victoria (170.4¢).
Of the major cities, Melbourne offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 170.1¢ a litre, followed by Darwin (170.9¢), Perth (171.3¢), Hobart (177.6¢), Brisbane (178.1¢), Adelaide (187.4¢), Canberra (196.5¢), and Sydney (198.4¢).
