Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 1¢ to 173.2¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 20 October, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 1.5¢ to 172.6¢ a litre, while the regional price rose 0.1¢ to 174.5¢ a litre.

The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 188.6¢ a litre, followed by Queensland (177.3¢), Tasmania (176.1¢), Western Australia (175.2¢), Victoria (172.3¢), NSW/ACT (171.8¢), and South Australia (166.9¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 164.4¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (169.8¢), Darwin (170.7¢), Melbourne (172¢), Perth (174.8¢), Hobart (176.4¢), Canberra (176.9¢), and Brisbane (178.7¢).
