The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 2.2¢ to 174.2¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 13 October, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 3.7¢ to 174.1¢ a litre, while the regional price rose 0.9¢ to 174.4¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 187.9¢ a litre, followed by Queensland (182.6¢), NSW/ACT (177.4¢), Tasmania (173.8¢), Western Australia (172.5¢), Victoria (166.5¢), and South Australia (166¢).
Of the major cities, Melbourne offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 168.3¢ a litre, followed by Darwin (169.9¢), Perth (170.1¢), Hobart (171.7¢), Adelaide (173.3¢), Canberra (176.9¢), Sydney (184.3¢), and Brisbane (190.7¢).
