Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 2.2¢ to 182.5¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 8 September, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 2.1¢ to 183.3¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 2.3¢ to 181¢ a litre.

The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 190.5¢ a litre, followed by Queensland (189.1¢), NSW/ACT (184.9¢), Tasmania (180¢), Victoria (178.9¢), South Australia (176.4¢), and Western Australia (176.2¢).

Of the major cities, Darwin offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 172.5¢ a litre, followed by Perth (175.1¢), Adelaide (175.5¢), Hobart (178.9¢), Melbourne (179.1¢), Sydney (186.2¢), Canberra (186.6¢), and Brisbane (194.4¢).
