Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 0.8¢ to 182.4¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 25 August, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 1.6¢ to 181.8¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 0.9¢ to 183.6¢ a litre.

The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 195.2¢ a litre, followed by NSW/ACT (186¢), Tasmania (184.8¢), South Australia (184.4¢), Queensland (183.7¢), Western Australia (181.2¢), and Victoria (176.1¢).

Of the major cities, Melbourne offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 174.6¢ a litre, followed by Darwin (178.5¢), Perth (180.2¢), Hobart (183¢), Brisbane (184.9¢), Adelaide (185.1¢), Sydney (186¢), and Canberra (190¢).
