Sushi Jiro opens Perth’s largest sushi train

Sushi Jiro has opened at Westfield Carousel, Perth’s largest sushi train, measuring 114 metres and accommodating 126 guests. The new location is the first Sushi Jiro restaurant in Perth and comes after the Japanese restaurant brand unveiled the largest sushi train in the southern hemisphere last month at Brisbane’s Westfield Chermside.

Sushi Jiro CEO Anna Kasman says the team is excited to continue the Australian expansion with the first Perth Sushi Jiro restaurant at Westfield Carousel.

“Opening our first Perth Sushi Jiro Sushi Train has been a long time coming, and we couldn’t be more excited and proud to be on the other side of the country. It is a significant step for us and marks a huge milestone in our national expansion plans.

“We are excited to establish a strong presence in Perth, and when debating our first location, Westfield Carousel just made sense. It is a prime area that attracts a diverse and large customer base, offering excellent visibility and accessibility for introducing Sushi Jiro to a new market,” Ms Kasman said.

The new restaurant blends traditional and modern elements of sushi making, highlighting both time-honoured techniques and contemporary flavours and ingredients.

Diners can expect a seamless and dynamic experience, with a wide variety of freshly prepared sushi and a la carte options crafted by skilled chefs and delivered to each table via sushi train and sushi robots.

“As seen across our restaurants in Victoria and Queensland, we always use traditional methods of developing, preparing, cooking and serving our creations, and we’re always bringing new and exciting, more modern flavours to the table,” Ms Kasman said.

Sushi Jiro expects a warm reception from the Perth community, anticipating significant business growth.

“We expect a very positive response from the Perth community. In warmer climates, people flock to sushi because it’s refreshing and healthy. We can’t wait to see happy Sushi Jiro diners at Westfield Carousel and to continue our expansion throughout Perth,” she said.

The next Sushi Jiro restaurant in the works is the renovation of Sushi Jiro Emporium in Victoria, transforming it from a takeaway concept into a full sushi train with robots.

Sushi Jiro’s new Perth restaurant is open seven days a week, 11am to 9pm, and is located at Westfield Carousel.
