Petrol price update

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia decreased 1.1¢ to 129.8¢ a litre nationally in the week ending September 6, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price decreased 0.5¢ to 128.3¢ a litre, with the regional price decreasing 2.1¢ a litre to 133¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in Tasmania at 139.6¢ a litre, followed by Queensland (134¢), the NT (133.7¢), NSW/ACT (131.7¢), SA (130.9¢), WA (129.7¢) and Victoria (122.9¢).

Of the major cities, Melbourne offered the cheapest fuel for the week at 121.4¢ a litre, followed by Perth (127¢), Sydney (130.7¢), Adelaide (131.5¢), Darwin (132¢), Brisbane (132.6¢), Canberra (133.7¢) and Hobart (139.1¢).
