The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 3.4¢ to 183.4¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 7 May, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 4¢ to 182.2¢ a litre, while the regional price fell by 2.3¢ to 185.8¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 197.2¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (192.1¢), Queensland (188.6¢), South Australia (186.4¢), Western Australia (182¢), Victoria (181.2¢), and NSW/ACT (180.6¢).
Of the major cities, Sydney offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 175.9¢ a litre, followed by Perth (180.2¢), Melbourne (181¢), Darwin (182.3¢), Adelaide (186.8¢), Canberra (188.6¢), Brisbane (189.8¢), and Hobart (190.9¢).
