The average weekly diesel fuel price in Australia rose 11.4¢ to 222.5¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 16 October, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 11.7¢ to 220.7¢ a litre, while the regional price rose 11.1¢ to 223.9¢ a litre.
The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 257.6¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (228.8¢), Western Australia (225.5¢), South Australia (224.7¢), NSW/ACT (223.6¢), Queensland (222.3¢), and Victoria (221.8¢).
Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 218.2¢ a litre, followed by Melbourne (220¢), Sydney (221.4¢), Brisbane (221.5¢), Adelaide and Darwin (221.8¢), Canberra (225¢), and Hobart (227.9¢).
