Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 0.7¢ to 182.5¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 9 October, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 2.9¢ to 183.2¢ a litre, while the regional price rose 3.8¢ to 181.1¢ a litre.

The most expensive unleaded in the country was the Northern Territory at 188.6¢ a litre, followed by South Australia (184.3¢), Tasmania (184.3¢), NSW/ACT (183.7¢), Queensland (181.9¢), Western Australia (181.5¢), and Victoria (180.9¢).

Of the major cities, Darwin offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 173.6¢ a litre, followed by Perth (180.8¢), Canberra (182.6¢), Melbourne (182.9¢), Sydney (183.2¢), Hobart (183.6¢), Brisbane (183.9¢), and Adelaide (186.9¢).
