The average weekly diesel fuel price in Australia fell 1.6¢ to 198.5¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 28 August, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 1.7¢ to 197¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 1.6¢ to 199.7¢ a litre.
The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 223.4¢ a litre, followed by Victoria (199.6¢), NSW/ACT (199.5¢), Queensland (198¢), Tasmania (197.9¢), South Australia (196.8¢), and Western Australia (193.8¢).
Of the major cities, Perth and Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 190.1¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (197.5¢), Brisbane (197.7¢), Melbourne (198.8¢), Hobart (202.1¢), Canberra (205.9¢), and Darwin (209.6¢).
