The average weekly diesel fuel price in Australia fell 6.1¢ to 200.1¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 21 August, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 6.1¢ to 198.7¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 6.1¢ to 201.3¢ a litre.
The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 224.4¢ a litre, followed by Victoria (201.2¢), Queensland (201¢), NSW/ACT (200.8¢), Tasmania (198.7¢), South Australia (197.4¢), and Western Australia (194.3¢).
Of the major cities, Perth and Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 190.3¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (197.2¢), Melbourne (200.7¢), Brisbane (201.4¢), Hobart (204.9¢), Canberra (208¢), and Darwin (211.1¢).
