Weekly diesel prices

The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose 2.3¢ to 167.7¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 30 January, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 2.2¢ to 167.1¢ a litre, while the regional rose 2.4¢ to 168.2¢ a litre.

The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 181.6¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (176.6¢), Victoria (167.5¢), Queensland (167.3¢), NSW/ACT (167.1¢), South Australia (167.1¢) and Western Australia (167¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 165.3¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (165.5¢), Perth (165.5¢), Melbourne (166.8¢), Brisbane (168.1¢), Canberra (170.7¢), Darwin (172.2¢), and Hobart (178.4¢).
