The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose 3.5¢ to 161.1¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 24 October, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose by 3.5¢ to 160.2¢ a litre, while the regional price rose 3.5¢ to 161.8¢ a litre.
The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 173.3¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (165.5¢), NSW/ACT (160.9¢), Victoria (160.9¢), Queensland (160.8¢), Western Australia (160.3¢), and South Australia (160.2¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 157.8¢ a litre, followed by Perth (158.6¢), Sydney (159.8¢), Melbourne (160.2¢), Brisbane (160.8¢), Darwin (163.1¢), Canberra (164.6¢), and Hobart (164.9¢).
