The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose 2.9¢ to 153.9¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 10 October, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose by 3¢ to 153¢ a litre, while the regional price rose 2.7¢ to 154.6¢ a litre.
The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 167.8¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (158.6¢), NSW/ACT (154.1¢), Victoria (154¢), Queensland (153.6¢), South Australia (152.5¢), and Western Australia (151.9¢).
Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 150¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (150.6¢), Sydney (152.8¢), Brisbane (153.4¢), Melbourne (153.5¢), Darwin (156.9¢), Hobart (158.1¢), and Canberra (159.7¢).
