Weekly diesel prices

The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose 0.7¢ to 146.3¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 15 August, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose by 0.6¢ to 144.9¢ a litre, with the regional price rose 0.7¢ to 147.4¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 162.8¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (151.7¢), Queensland (146.5¢), NSW/ACT (146.3¢), South Australia (145.9¢), Victoria (145.4¢), and Western Australia (144.2¢).

Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 141.6¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (141.8¢), Sydney (143.9¢), Melbourne (145.0¢), Brisbane (146.6¢), Canberra (148.9¢), Darwin (151.0¢) and Hobart (151.0¢).
