The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose 0.4¢ to 135¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 16 May, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose by 0.4¢ to 133.6 ¢ a litre, with the regional price rising by 0.5¢ to 136.3¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 148.2¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (140.9¢), South Australia (135.6¢), NSW/ACT (135.1¢), Western Australia (134.5¢), Victoria (134.4¢), and Queensland (134.2¢).
Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 131.9¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (132.2¢), Darwin (132.3¢), Melbourne (133.7¢), Brisbane (134.2¢), Sydney (135.1¢), Canberra (139.1¢) and Hobart (141.9¢).
