The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 1.8¢ to 143¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 16 May, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 1.9¢ to 144¢ a litre, with the regional price rising by 1.5¢ to 140.9¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in Victoria at 150.1¢ a litre, followed by Northern Territory (149.8¢), Queensland (146.5¢), Tasmania (143.4¢), Western Australia (139.8¢), NSW/ACT (138.5¢) and South Australia (133.1¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 131.2¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (134.9¢), Perth (139.5¢), Darwin (139.8¢), Canberra (140.1¢), Hobart (144.3¢), Brisbane (150.1¢) and Melbourne (154.7¢).
