Weekly diesel prices

The average price of diesel fuel in Australia fell by 0.2¢ to 119.0¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 4 October, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell by 0.2¢ to 117.6¢ a litre, while the regional price fell by 0.1¢ to 120.2¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 135.0¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (130.6¢), Victoria (119.1¢), Western Australia (118.8¢), NSW/ACT (118.6¢), South Australia (118.3¢) and Queensland (117.3¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 109.9¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (115.5¢), Perth (116.7¢), Darwin (116.9¢), Brisbane (117.6¢), Melbourne (118.4¢), Canberra (120.7¢) and Hobart (133.6¢).
