Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia dropped 1.5¢ to 122.6¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 9 August, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price dropped 2.0¢ 124.5¢ a litre, with the regional price dropped by 0.3¢ to 118.9¢ a litre.

The most expensive unleaded in the country was in Queensland at 131.5¢ a litre, followed by Northern Territory (131.1¢), Tasmania (124.1¢), Victoria (122.5¢), South Australia (120.3¢), NSW/ACT (118.8¢), and Western Australia (118.8¢).

Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 118.0¢ a litre, followed by Darwin (118.9¢), Sydney (119.3¢), Adelaide (120.9¢), Canberra (122.7¢), Hobart (124.0¢), Melbourne (124.6¢), and Brisbane (137.5¢).
