The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose 0.1¢ to150.6¢ a litre nationally in the week ending January 19, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 0.1¢ to 149.2¢ a litre, while the regional price stayed the same at 151.7¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in Tasmania at 160.6¢, then the Northern Territory at 160.1¢ a litre, followed by South Australia (151.4¢), NSW/ACT (150.7¢), Western Australia (150.5¢), Queensland (150.2¢) and Victoria (148.6¢).
Of the major cities, Darwin offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 144.3¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (146.5¢), Melbourne (148.1¢), Perth (148.2¢), Sydney (148.4¢), Brisbane (150.5¢), and Hobart (161.4¢).
