BP Australia has launched its third Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). According to the company, the 2018-2020 RAP strengthens its dedication to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
BP says it defined the focus of the RAP through “extensive engagement” with its employees, indigenous communities and external stakeholders.
“I’m proud of the work BP has achieved so far in making a difference by supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities,” BP Australia President Andy Holmes said.
The updated RAP sets four focus areas where BP believes it can continue building on the progress it has made so far:
- Encouraging cultural respect
- Strengthening partnerships
- Unlocking Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander talent; and
- Leading innovation.
‘A better future for all Australians’
A key commitment in the RAP will also see BP implement an indigenous procurement policy. This policy sets out BP’s intentions on providing opportunities for inclusion of indigenous businesses in the supply chain.
“As a business which operates throughout Australia and which intends on being here for the long term, we must continue to lead on these matters in order to secure a better future for all Australians,” Mr Holmes said.
