This week marks 10 years since the first 7-Eleven store opened in Western Australia.
Since then, the retailer says it has invested more than $60 million in becoming the “convenient neighbourhood store” for West Australians.
7-Eleven now has 60 stores across Perth and south-west WA providing more than 600 local jobs and career pathways with plans to continue to grow.
“As our network has grown to serve more neighbourhoods in WA, our team has had access to new career opportunities,” says 7-Eleven Area Lead – South Nick Maddox.
“58% of our WA team started their careers with us in a different role. 27 of our current store leaders have been promoted into their current roles, starting out as team members or assistant managers.
“We are incredibly proud our multi-million-dollar investment in WA has led to not only more choice and convenience for food, essentials and fuel in neighbourhoods in Perth and the south-west for local communities, but also careers for locals.
“From day one, the West Australian community has welcomed our brand and offer. We’ve sold more than 157 million items, with our freshly ground 100% Fairtrade Certified Coffee being the most popular, with more than 27 million cups sold since 2014.”
Mr Maddox says 7-Eleven has plans to continue growing in WA over the next decade.
“We want more Australians to say that 7-Eleven is their convenient neighbourhood store, with the right range of food, essential groceries and other items to meet their needs throughout the day,” he says.
“We want to invest in new stores in suburbs, CBDs, and regional Australia, and special locations including workplaces, transport centres, and other hubs, bringing our offer to people’s doorsteps.
“We’re excited to see our WA network and team continue to grow in the decade to come.”
