AUSTRALIAN MADE EXPAND A ‘super-sized’ treat returns Robern Menz has rewarded its fans for their spirit in what has been a challenging time, bringing back a “much-missed” treat, Menz Giant FruChocs. According to the brand, this “super-sized” version of the South Australian made “icon” weighs in at about four times the size of an original FruChoc (“real” apricot and peach fruit centres covered in milk chocolate). Menz Giant FruChocs, available now, come in a 300g pack. An Aussie among the vinegars Extra virgin olive oil brand Squeaky Gate Growers Co launched into the vinegar category in November. Partnering with “expert” vinegar makers, the brand has created four artisanal balsamic vinegars: Classic, White, Raspberry and Caramelised. Each variant is said to be made using wine sourced from local Australian vineyards. “Through the launch of this range,” Squeaky Gate Brand Manager Nicole Puhar said, “Squeaky Gate is proudly providing consumers with greater opportunity to support local. With only nine per cent of available mainstream vinegars of Australian origin, Squeaky Gate is an important Aussie addition to the category.” ‘Easy’ vegan egg alternative Australian family-owned ‘free from’ brand Orgran introduced the Australian made Vegan Easy Egg late last year. When prepared as scrambled eggs, says the brand, this vegan alternative provides 7.6g of protein per serve, and acts as a good source of fibre while being cholesterol free. The product’s “key ingredient” is chickpea flour, which is claimed to be “rich” in fibre, protein, and micronutrients. Said to be more cost effective than an egg carton, Orgran Vegan Easy Egg’s pack includes the equivalent of 15 eggs and offers the convenience of being ready-to-go in the pantry. It retails for $5. A Gris with ‘agreeable’ AVB Edenvale’s Pinot Gris is described as “vibrant and juicy”, with the “hallmark Gris texture”, and “mouth- watering” flavours of ripe stone fruit, poached pear, and apricot. Made in Australia from the “finest quality” south-eastern Australian grapes, this wine from the Australian brand noted for its non- alcoholic wine is said to be high in antioxidants and low in calories. It is also claimed to contain less than 0.5 per cent alcohol by volume (AVB), a level promoted as being similar to that found in natural fruit juices. Edenvale says its Pinot Gris is an “ideal pairing” with salads, fruits, pasta, white meat and most fish dishes. Its richness, adds the brand, also enables it to ably complement “heartier fare” such as veal chops, chicken casseroles and hard cheeses. Plant milk’s local ingredient focus NuYu is an Australian range of “premium” long-life “vegan friendly” plant milks “boasting flavour, versatility and sustainability”. Made in South Australia, NuYu’s ambient plant milk products are said to have no added colours, sweeteners or artificial flavours. The product is claimed to have a shelf life of nine months. “We’re excited to provide people with a healthy plant milk range that supports 90 per cent Australian ingredients, with 100 per cent Australian oats, almond and macadamias used,” NuYu Assistant Brand Manager Amelia Wright said.
