Viva Energy’s convenience sales decline

Viva Energy has reported a 1.1% increase in total sales volumes for the three months ended 31 December 2025.

Despite this, sales across the company’s Convenience & Mobility (C&M) segment declined.

According to Viva Energy, C&M fuel sales volumes were impacted by trading interruptions from store conversions and divestment of 15 Liberty Convenience stores. Adjusting for these impacts, fuel sales volumes were down 1.5% compared to the same period last year.

Convenience sales fell by 11.4%, with tobacco sales down 33.6% due to the continued impact of illicit trade. Tobacco sales were, however, stable in the second half of 2025. Gross margin on total convenience sales improved 4.5% to 42.2%.

Convenience sales, excluding tobacco, were down 1.3%, largely due to trading interruptions from store conversions. On a like-for-like basis, sales (excluding tobacco) were in line with the same period, but up 1.9% in OTR format stores.

Viva Energy opened 35 OTR stores (a mix of new stores, rebuilds and conversions) in FY2025, and undertook five Liberty conversions during 4Q2025.
