Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 2.3¢ to 171.9¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 6 February, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 2¢ to 171.6¢, while the regional price rose 2.7¢ to 172.3¢ a litre.

The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 182.3¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (181.2¢), Victoria (174.1¢), NSW/ACT (171.7¢), South Australia (170.8¢), Western Australia (170.8¢), and Queensland (168.9¢).

Of the major cities, Brisbane offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 168.2¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (169.4¢), Perth (170¢), Adelaide (171.1¢), Canberra (173.9¢), Darwin (175¢), Melbourne (176.1¢), and Hobart (183¢).
