Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia remained at 130.5¢ a litre nationally in the week ending October 8, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s Weekly Petrol Prices report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price decreased 0.1¢ to 131.7¢ a litre, with the regional price remaining 127.9¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in Tasmania at 135.8¢ a litre, followed by Victoria (131.9¢), the Northern Territory and Queensland (131.5¢), NSW/ACT (130.4¢), Western Australia (129.4¢) and South Australia (118.4¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest fuel for the week at 116¢ a litre, followed by Canberra (128.2¢), Darwin (128.5), Perth (128.7¢), Melbourne (133.4¢), Sydney (134.2¢), Hobart (135.3¢) and Brisbane (135.4¢).
