Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia dropped 1.7¢ to 138.5¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 21 March, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price dropped 3.5¢ to 139.2¢ a litre, with the regional price rising by 1.7¢ to 136.9¢ a litre.

The most expensive unleaded in the country was in South Australia at 147.2¢ a litre, followed by the NT (144.9¢), Tasmania (140.5¢), NSW/ACT (139.3¢), Victoria (138.9¢), Western Australia (138.5¢), and Queensland (132.6¢).

Of the major cities, Brisbane offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 131.3¢ a litre, followed by Darwin (133.9¢), Perth (138.4¢), Canberra (139.0¢), Melbourne (140.4¢), Sydney (140.5¢), Hobart (140.5¢) and Adelaide (151.3¢).
