The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 16.2¢ to 227.3¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 20 September, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 16.4¢ to 226.5¢ a litre, while the regional price rose 15.9¢ to 229¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 244.8¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (231.4¢), NSW/ACT (229¢), Queensland (228.2¢), Western Australia (226.3¢), Victoria (225.1¢), and South Australia (224.1¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 222.4¢ a litre, followed by Melbourne (224.9¢), Perth (225.4¢), Brisbane (227.2¢), Sydney (228¢), Hobart (232.2¢), Darwin (233.5¢), and Canberra (237.1¢).
