Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia dropped 5.2¢ to 131.6¢ a litre nationally in the week ending March 8, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price dropped by 6.8¢ to 127.2¢ a litre, with the regional price rising 2.2¢ to 140.4¢ a litre.

The most expensive unleaded in the country was in Tasmania at 153.1¢ a litre, followed by Northern Territory (148.8¢), Western Australia (135.5¢), NSW/ACT (132.4¢), Queensland (130.1¢), Victoria (128.7¢), and South Australia (127.5¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 122.5¢ a litre, followed by Brisbane (125.1¢), Sydney (125.4¢), Melbourne (126.1¢), Perth (132.7¢), Darwin (136.0¢), Canberra (144.0¢) and Hobart (154.0¢).
