The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 8.5¢ to 141.3¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 7 March, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 12.0¢ to 144.8¢ a litre, with the regional price rising by 1.2¢ to 134.0¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in Victoria at 147.9¢ a litre, followed by the NT (141.9¢), NSW/ACT (140.6¢), South Australia (140.4¢), Queensland (138.2¢), Tasmania (135.5¢), and Western Australia (135.1¢).
Of the major cities, Darwin offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 130.9¢ a litre, followed by Canberra (133.9¢), Perth (135.0¢), Hobart (135.2¢), Brisbane (140.7¢), Adelaide (143.3¢), Sydney (145.5¢) and Melbourne (154.0¢).
