Weekly diesel prices

The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose by 0.3¢ to 134.0¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 4 April, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 0.3¢ to 134.0¢ a litre, while the regional price rose by 0.2¢ to 136.0¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 147.3¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (140.0¢), Victoria (135.9¢), South Australia (134.7¢), NSW/ACT (134.6¢), Western Australia (134.4¢) and Queensland (133.9¢).

Of the major cities, Darwin offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 132.1¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (132.1¢), Perth (132.2¢), Adelaide (132.3¢), Brisbane (134.1¢), Melbourne (135.7¢), Canberra (139.1¢) and Hobart (140.9¢).
