Weekly diesel prices

The average weekly diesel fuel price in Australia fell 5.8¢ to 226.1¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 24 July, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 5.9¢ to 224.6¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 5.8¢ to 227.2¢ a litre.

The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 243.5¢ a litre, followed by Queensland (229.1¢), Victoria (226.1¢), NSW/ACT (225.8¢), Tasmania (222.7¢), South Australia (221.8¢), and Western Australia (221.6¢).

Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 218.6¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (220.3¢), Sydney (221.1¢), Hobart (224.1¢), Melbourne (225.6¢), Canberra (228.1¢), Brisbane (229.3¢), and Darwin (234.9¢).
