Weekly diesel prices

The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose 0.8¢ to 144.2¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 18 July, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose by 0.7¢ to 143.1¢ a litre, with the regional price rising by 1.0¢ to 145.2¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 159.6¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (149.8¢), NSW/ACT (144.5¢), Queensland (144.4¢), South Australia (143.8¢), Western Australia (142.9¢), and Victoria (142.8¢).

Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 140.0¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (140.3¢), Melbourne (142.3¢), Sydney (142.7¢), Brisbane (145.1¢), Darwin (146.8¢), Canberra (147.3¢) and Hobart (148.4¢).
