Weekly diesel prices

The average price of diesel fuel in Australia dropped 2.1¢ to 144.4¢ a litre nationally in the week ending March 15, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price dropped 2.3¢ to 143.0¢ a litre, while the regional price dropped 2.1¢ 145.4¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 158.0¢, then Tasmania at 157.3¢ a litre, followed by Western Australia (144.9¢), Queensland (144.2), NSW/ACT (143.5¢), South Australia (143.2¢) and Victoria (142.7¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 136.6¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (139.4¢), Darwin (141.5¢), Melbourne (142.7¢), Perth (142.9¢), Brisbane (144.4¢), and Hobart (159.7¢).
