Weekly diesel prices

The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose 3.7¢ to 157.6¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 17 October, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose by 3.7¢ to 156.7¢ a litre, while the regional price rose 3.7¢ to 158.3¢ a litre.

The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 170.3¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (161.9¢), NSW/ACT (157.6¢), Victoria (157.5¢), Queensland (157.3¢), South Australia (156.7¢), and Western Australia (156.1¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide and Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 154.4¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (156.6¢), Melbourne (157¢), Brisbane (157.2¢), Darwin (159.7¢), Hobart (161.3¢), and Canberra (162.1¢).
