Weekly diesel prices

The average price of diesel fuel in Australia dropped 2.8¢ to 131.3¢ a litre nationally in the week ending April 16, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price dropped 2.7¢ to 130.0¢ a litre, while the regional price dropped 3.0¢ to 132.4¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 150.6¢, then Tasmania at 140.4¢ a litre, followed by Western Australia (132.6¢), Queensland (131.4), Victoria (131.1¢), NSW/ACT (129.5¢) and South Australia (126.8¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 122.9¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (124.7¢), Brisbane (130.2¢), Melbourne (130.9¢), Perth (131.9¢), Canberra (132.2¢), Darwin (133.8¢) and Hobart (143.5¢).
