Weekly diesel prices

The average weekly diesel fuel price in Australia fell 1.6¢ to 192.7¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 14 January, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 1.4¢ to 189.9¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 1.8¢ to 195¢ a litre.

The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 213.3¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (200¢), NSW/ACT (194.3¢), Queensland (193.3¢), Western Australia (191.4¢), Victoria (189.5¢), and South Australia (188.4¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 181.7¢ a litre, followed by Perth (185.8¢), Melbourne (188.6¢), Sydney (189.2¢), Darwin (190.8¢), Brisbane (192.9¢), Hobart (197.2¢), and Canberra (202.1¢).
