Weekly diesel prices

The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose 3.3¢ to 151.1¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 8 August, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose by 4.9¢ to 152.3¢ a litre, with the regional price stayed at 148.6¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Victoria at 159.2¢ a litre, followed by NT (158.9¢), Tasmania (153.4¢), South Australia (153.1¢), NSW/ACT (149.2¢), Western Australia (148.8¢), and Queensland (143.1¢).

Of the major cities, Brisbane offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 141.2¢ a litre, followed by Perth (148.4¢), Sydney (148.5¢), Darwin (149.9¢), Canberra (151.4¢), Hobart (152.7¢), Adelaide (154.3¢) and Melbourne (164.8¢).
