Water bottle refills at Sainsbury’s

Shoppers in the UK will soon be able to fill their own reusable water bottles in 326 Sainsbury’s supermarket cafes across the country.

From August, fresh water stands will be available in cafes for customers to refill their own water bottles and reduce reliance on single-use plastic water bottles.

Reusable containers and reusable cups

The supermarket chain also announced that customers can now bring their own reusable containers to fresh and deli counters in for meat, fish, cheese and deli products.

In addition, hot drinks will be discounted 25p when customers bring their own reusable cup.

Commitment to eliminate plastic

Over recent weeks, Sainsbury’s has made bold commitments to remove and replace plastic, while ensuring as many of its products as possible are made from recycled material and are recyclable after use.

According to Sainsbury’s CEO Mike Coupe, supermarket customers want to use less plastic so he is determined that Sainsbury’s finds ways to help them do that.
