Success in digitalising traditional trade

Trada, an ecommerce startup launched their digital tradeshow in November 2019, and in such a short time span, have seen great success.

The online platform initially began featuring 40 Australian brands and 100 Australian retailers, now it features more than 300 brands, across 12,000+ products with more than 3000 retailers signed up from around the country.

Through the online marketplace, retailers can find unique products, place wholesale orders and track delivery to store.

“Trade shows are how retailers traditionally find new suppliers, with many purchasing an entire year’s worth of products in a single sale,” begins Trada Co-founder, Shekhar Raju.

“However, for smaller brands it can be incredibly expensive to attend with even a small booth costing thousands of dollars just to showcase for a few days. We wanted to create a platform that was more affordable with a greater selection of brands.”

The estimated accumulated total market value for wholesale consumer goods is worth more than $30 billion in Australia, based on research by IBIS World.

Co-founder of Trada, Ankit Oberoi emphasises that many brands and retailers adopted the digital path due to cancelled tradeshows.

“Our platform has become one of the only ways that reopening retailers can get access to new stock,” explains Mr Oberoi.
