National awards bring smile to Pie Face

Australian-owned Pie Face has been awarded 19 medals as part of the 33rd Official Great Aussie Pie Competition, with its newly launched Cheese and Bacon Roll taking out a gold medal.

With hundreds of bakers and pie makers from all over Australia competing in the most sought-after industry awards, this is the second year running that Pie Face has scooped the awards for their pies and rolls.

“The humble meat pie is a true Aussie icon, and we’re thrilled that Pie Face has been recognised for producing some of the country’s tastiest pies by the Great Aussie Pie Competition,” says Bruce Feodoroff, CEO of Pie Face.

The Official Great Aussie Meat Pie Competition was established in 1989, and entrants, who send in four samples of each pie to be judged, are assessed on the general appearance of the pie, the quality and flavour of the filling, and the quality and eating experience of the pastry. Each pie undergoes a blind taste test, and is tasted by two or three judges.

The judging panel consists of industry representatives, qualified bakers and pastry chefs, all of whom are experts in their field.

Available from 300 outlets around Australia, including United Petroleum and Astron sites, Pie Face’s pies and rolls are handcrafted from scratch using only premium, quality ingredients, and baked until they’re golden brown throughout the day in every location.
